Open Observing Night

May 10, 2019 @ 7:30 PM - 11:30 PM

Sharing the night sky at the MPG Softball Field

Open to the Public!

Like most of our events, the monthly observing night is free and open to the public.

Join us to share the night sky at GM’s Milford Proving Grounds.  No telescope required, just make sure you dress for the weather.  Everyone is welcome, but non-GM employees will be asked to sign a waiver.

Note that there is no power on site, so if your scope needs power, bring a battery.

See attached for details:

MPG Open Observing Night & Waiver

What to bring (Optional)

  • A telescope, if you have one.  If not, you are welcome to look through one of ours!
  • Blankets for stargazing
  • Family and friends!  There is a playground for the kids.

Have a telescope collecting dust in your garage and you don’t know how to use it?  Bring it out and we’ll teach you how.

What if it’s cloudy?

If weather forecast is cloudy,  the event will be moved to a backup location in Hartland.  The decision will be made on Thursday morning and communicated by email.  You can also check the website or Facebook for the latest information.

This backup event is called the “Cloudy Nights Workshop” and it is hosted by Jim and Moriah Goodall, in their 2000 square-foot pole barn, where there is lots of space for projects, plenty of tools, and a play area for the younger kids.
