Did you know there is a weather station in Oakland County?  The White Lake station is one of only 92 stations in North America, which launches two weather balloons daily.  As astronomers, we often reference weather data for planning purposes, but few of us may realize where the data comes from.  A big part of weather forecasting depends on accurate wind velocity and temperature measurements of all the layers of the atmosphere.  Club members are invited to join in an exclusive tour of the White Lake Weather Station and watch a real weather balloon launch!

Important Information!

The U.S. Government operates the station and they require additional paperwork for non-U.S. citizens.  If you are not a U.S. citizen, please contact us at least three weeks before the event, to ensure your participation.  Also, the tour size for this event is limited, so please email Jim Goodall and reserve your spot!
